Walk-Along<\/h1>\nWalk-Along<\/h1>\nThis is a different type of devotional. With no judgment towards any of the many very good devotional books out there, most are a series of one-offs. What I mean is that there is a verse for the day, then a few paragraphs of content. Maybe a prayer. Then the next day is a completely different devotional, different text, etc. One day is not connected to the next.<\/p>\n
Now I certainly am not saying that what you hold in your hands is the best devotional ever. However, it is different. It is different in that you will engage with the same scripture and its larger context for five consecutive days. It is different in that, at the end of each week, you will have an opportunity to reflect over the past week by what the Lord revealed to you in your day-to-day life. It is also different in that, at the end of every four weeks, you will practice the ancient spiritual discipline called Consolations and Desolations, created by St. Ignatius of Loyola, by reviewing your \u201cDay 5s\u201d on a larger scale. This spiritual discipline is the best practice I know of to review, reflect and realign a walk with Jesus.<\/p>\n
