For 32 years, Sergeant Eric Rogers stood on the front lines of the Los Angeles Police Department, a tireless guardian dedicated to protecting its citizens and upholding justice. His unwavering commitment led to a career where he earned a reputation for excellence across a wide range of assignments. A steadfast presence on the footbeats of housing projects and in the gang unit, his career also encompassed significant roles such as undercover narcotics, motor officer, and detective, all beginning with his early days as a field training officer. His distinguished service concluded as the Officer In Charge of the LAPD’s elite Metropolitan Division Mounted Platoon and as a leader in its Chaplain Corps. Sergeant Rogers’s firsthand experience navigating the dynamic and often explosive landscape of Los Angeles, controlling major incidents including many dangerous riots and several monumental protests, has repeatedly put his life on the line, leading many to wonder how many of his ‘Nine Lives’ remain.
