There is no point to \u201cgoing on\u201d just to say, \u201cI read that book.\u201d The guidance of one of my teachers applies here: \u201cStay where there\u2019s fruit.\u201d If a question rankles, disturbs or upsets you, take it to your \u201cquiet place,\u201d and sit with it, letting it dissolve into your mind like a piece of rock candy dissolves slowly on your tongue. This other counsel from the medieval scholastics (\u201cNon multa sed multum\u201d) also applies. Freely translated: \u201cIt\u2019s not knowing many things that satisfies the soul but knowing a few quality things deeply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A superlatively good question taken to heart can change a life. (Caveat Lector: Let the reader beware.) If you are not ready, willing and open to change of perspective and behavior, STOP. Don\u2019t read this book.
