Mirage

Mirage is Ryan Frank’s first self-published photo book and his inaugural body of work centered on the artistic exploration of the nude male form.

Shot among the canyons, rivers, and hidden caves of Southern Utah, Mirage documents an intimate journey through a landscape both unforgiving and sublime. Six men venture into this remote terrain, not as strangers but as companions—forming new friendships as they confront heat, stone, water, and silence. Against the vastness of Mother Earth, they explore their own strength and vulnerability, learning to trust one another as much as the land eneath their feet.

The images in Mirage are bold yet contemplative, guided by a deep reverence for nature and freedom rather than objects of desire. The human form appears as an extension of the environment itself—carved by light, shadow, and time—moving through narrow canyons, along flowing rivers, and into ancient caves.

Mirage unfolds like an expedition, each page revealing new perspectives, quiet surprises, and moments of awe. These are exclusive photographs, created specifically for this project and published here for the first time.

Mirage is an invitation—to wander farther, to look closer, and to find connection in places where the earth strips everything down to what is essential.
