Michelle Lovett, LCSW, wrote her first poem shortly after reading her first word and has been writing ever since. Her debut book, The Moon Is Mistaken, is an eclectic collection of precious life moments weaving between inner and outer worlds. The book travels from micro poem to short story to song, shining light on the wisdom of nature and that special thing that happens when we love.
Michelle is a spoken word artist and likes to perform her work. She uses humor in poems like “I Will Not Write a Poem about Pie” and expresses her deep belief in healing in “She Put Gum in My Hair,” her creative nonfiction piece about working in a high school in the Bronx. In poems like “Heart Home,” “Automn’s Cloak,” and “Finishing Life,” she shares a piece of her heart.
When she is not writing poems, she is running her company Lovett Productions. Michelle is the executive director for the nonprofit Oneness Center NYC, and she maintains a small private spiritual psychotherapy practice with select clients.
