About the Book

Finding Friendship After Lost Hope is a children’s story about overcoming fear, rediscovering confidence, and finding true friendship through kindness.

The story follows Michael, a boy who starts at a new school carrying emotional scars from being bullied by other children. Nervous and withdrawn, he struggles to believe in himself despite constant encouragement from his mother, who reminds him that he is “kind and brave.” His teacher, Mr. R, also sees Michael’s potential and encourages him to join the school’s running club.

During a cross-country race, Michael faces a defining moment. While trying his best, he sees another runner, Ben, fall and injure his knee. Instead of racing ahead to improve his own position, Michael chooses compassion over competition. He stops to help Ben, supports him to his feet, and the two boys finish the race together. Michael’s selfless act earns praise from his teacher and admiration from others, demonstrating that true success is measured by character rather than winning.

Inspired by the experience, Michael begins to heal from the hurt caused by past bullying. He gains confidence, learns to trust others again, and forms a genuine friendship with Ben. Together, they discover shared interests, such as building Lego creations, symbolizing the beginning of a happier chapter in Michael’s life.
