About the Author
Richard R. Roach, MD, FACP, is professor emeritus of Western Michigan University School of Medicine. He graduated from the same university and completed internal medicine residency in Kalamazoo. He then worked in Berrien Springs and Benton Harbor Michigan as a consulting internist for 12 years. Returning to Duluth, Minnesota, to care for his aging mother, Roach worked as an occupational physician consultant for St. Luke’s Hospital until an opportunity to teach internal medicine residents drew him back to Kalamazoo for 20 years of teaching, including design of a tropical medicine rotation to Madagascar. Now, Roach lives with his wife, Priscilla, in Cottage Grove, Minnesota.
