Start Ten is a sequel to We Three Kings. In the first book, a disparate group of men nearing retirement age are visited by a phenomenon at the same time, 4:00 in the afternoon on November 30th, 2020, that not only draws them together at a Civil War site, but also introduces them to a group of horsemen who at first glance are considered as being Confederate Civil War impersonators. They’re not . . . they’re somehow real, and that, together with other happenings presents them with a riddle, that once solved, unites them to a challenge that can’t be ignored.
For the challenge, a nation struggling with a variety of issues—race, WOKE, and immigration among them—which may be reaching critical mass, the group is a strange combination. One is a successful black contractor, one is a Christian minister with Jewish-Islamic parentage, and the third a tenured history professor who is gay.
The problem is compounded by the fact that none of the three have been in the political arena where progress and survival are ultimately determined. Since that is the case, what follows is a novel, Start Ten, that marches in step with events that occur in the nation during the political term they are in, with a review of historical events guiding their responses.
The Confederates among them add a complication to what they want to do, but they’re also a reminder that the hand of the Creator is there to guide them along the way.
