In this book, I have tried to impart my impressions of Germany and the German people since I lived in the western part of Germany from 1961 until 1983. Since 1983, I have made many trips back to Germany and broadened my travels to Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and various parts of Eastern Germany. I taught in the German volkshochschule (adult evening school) from 1977 until 1984, expanding my insights into this society.

The People Hitler Left Behind
The social structure in Germany today (from 1961 to present) is extremely fascinating due to its progressive state and highly developed technical achievements. When one walks down the streets of almost any city in Germany, there will be citizens using cell phones, driving the newest Mercedes, and sporting the most modern clothes in Europe. New airports are being expanded, and the most modern trains are being built to take you to any part of Europe in luxury. Most cities are also safe, even after midnight, for casual walks.
